Order and delivery

You send me your blades, I sharpen them by hand on Japanese water stones, and I send them back ready to cut. Here is how each stage works, from payment to the return of your tools.

How to place an order

Choose the service that matches your tools (knives, pruning shears, wood chisels or gouges), select the formula suited to the number of pieces, add the finishing options you want, then pay online. Your order is confirmed as soon as payment is received, and you get a confirmation email.

You can also drop your blades off directly at the workshop in Saint-Jean-le-Vieux (Ain), by appointment. In that case, payment is made at drop-off or collection.

How you send me your blades

The service works by post throughout France and Europe.

After your order, I email you the packing instructions. Protect each blade individually (rigid card or a blade guard), pack everything securely in a sturdy parcel, and drop it at the Mondial Relay point of your choice using the shipping label provided.

Careful packaging protects your tools and other parcels during transit. A poorly protected blade can be damaged or injure someone during handling.

How long does sharpening take?

The sharpening itself takes around 48 hours from the moment your blades reach the workshop. This time lets me work each piece by hand, on the right set of stones (toishi), without rushing.

Allowing for the outward and return journeys, expect 7 to 8 days between dropping off your parcel and your tools arriving back with you. These times are given as a guide and depend on the carrier.

How your tools come back

Your blades are sent back with the same care, by Mondial Relay, to the collection point of your choice. You receive an email with the tracking number as soon as the return parcel is dispatched.

How much does delivery cost?

Outward and return shipping are included in every formula. You have no delivery costs to pay on top of the price of the service.

Which tools can I sharpen?

I sharpen kitchen and table knives, pruning shears, as well as wood chisels and gouges. For any unusual blade or tool not listed here, write to me before ordering and I will tell you whether I can take it on.

What if a blade cannot be sharpened?

Some blades that are too damaged, deeply chipped or made in a way that cannot be sharpened cannot be properly restored. If I find this on receipt, I contact you before doing any work to agree on what happens next.
